In March, 2007, Iowegian International Corporation released Version 4.1 of ScopeFIR™, the DSP professional's FIR filter design tool of choice.

ScopeFIR 4 includes the following new features:

1. Maxflat Design. ScopeFIR 4 can design lowpass FIR filters with a maximally flat passband, as described by Kaiser.
2. Cascaded Integrator-Comb (CIC) Design. ScopeFIR 4 can design CIC filters, which are widely used in hardware-based multirate applications.
3. Boxcar Design. ScopeFIR 4 adds boxcar filter design as an option to its "Import" project type.
4. Dolph-Chebyshev Window.  ScopeFIR 4 adds the powerful Dolph-Chebyshev window to its stable of data window types.
5. Blackman-Harris 7-Term Window.  (New in version 4.1)
6. Plot Zooming via the mouse wheel.

ScopeFIR 4 also has many improvements:

1. Parks-McClellan algorithm:  ScopeFIR 4's improved Parks-McClellan algorithm converges on the most extreme FIR designs even better than before!
2. Optimization algorithm: ScopeFIR 4 can optimize an even wider range of filter designs.
3. Help system: ScopeFIR 4's help system has been completely revised.
4. Lth-Band filter design: Improved zero-izing in version 4.1.
5. File Formats: Fractional text formats now support a user-specified word length.  (New in version 4.1)
6. ScopeFIR 4 contains a host of other improvements:
• Improved Frequency Response Lists
• Better error messages
• Lots of small user-interface refinements

The ScopeFIR 4 distribution file includes the following new free goodies:

1. fir_algs.c: a free and open collection of FIR filter algorithms to help you implement FIR filters in C.
2. multirate_algs.c: a free and open collection of multirate FIR filter algorithms to help you implement FIR decimators, interpolators, and resamplers in C.
3. A comprehensive set of example ScopeFIR project files to get you started on FIR designs of all types.

Registered users of Version 4.0 of ScopeFIR are eligible for a free upgrade to Version 4.1.  Just download and install it!

Registered users of Version 3.x of ScopeFIR are eligible to upgrade to Version 4 for just $49.  To upgrade:

1. Download, install, and start ScopeFIR 4.1
2. ScopeFIR will verify your 3.x registration, then take you to the ScopeFIR upgrade registration page in your browser.
3. Purchase your upgrade registration online.
4. You will receive your upgrade registration via e-mail.  Enter the key to enable the Professional Edition of ScopeFIR 4.1
