Convolve (FIR menu)

Convolving two filters combines their coefficients into a single filter whose frequency response is the same as the cascaded frequency response of the two filters. (You can think of this operation as " filtering the coefficients of one filter with the coefficients of another" .)

The Convolve dialog lets you select a filter to be convolved with the current filter. Note that:

  • The filter you convolve with must be an open ScopeFIR project. Therefore, you must design the convolving filter in advance.   If it is not currently open you must open it prior to selecting Convolve.
  • The new coefficients resulting from the convolution will replace the coefficients of the current filter.
