Fill Filter With Sine (FIR menu)

The Fill Filter With Sine command lets you specify how the number of samples and the frequency of the sine that will be used to fill the filter coefficients. The Inphase, Quadrature, or Complex filter may be filled, depending on which menu you selected to invoke the sine generator.

The " Number of Samples To Generate" field specifies the number of taps in the resulting filters.

Next, specify the sine frequency. You can specify it in two ways. The " Frequency" selection just fills the filters with a sine at the specified frequency. This is the normal way to specify frequency it essentially sets the center frequency of the resulting filter. Alternately, you can use the " Number of Cycles (Bin)" selection. Then, the frequency is automatically calculated such that the generated sine has the specified number of cycles over the specified number of samples. This value is essentially the same as the bin number of the DFT of the resulting sine.
